東日本大震災へお見舞い－国際人間工学連合からのメッセージ－
大震災後の３月末から、南アフリカで国際人間工学連合（IEA）の役員会議と理事会が開かれました。日本人間工学会（JES）は、最も活発にIEA活動に寄与している加盟組織のひとつです。理事会では、IEA会長からJES及び被災地域の人々に対し、同朋としてのお見舞いと友好の絆としてメッセージが寄せられました。理事会に参加した藤田祐志IEA役員の邦訳を以下に記します。（斉藤進JES理事長）
－国際人間工学連合アンドリュー・イマダ会長からのメッセージ－
国際人間工学連合ならびに世界中の人間工学に携わる者を代表して、去る3月11日の大災害に引き続く試練に直面しておられる日本人間工学会の同朋に対して心からお見舞いを申し上げます。我々は、報道や二次的な解説によって、現在多くの方々が耐え忍んでいらっしゃる壊滅的な破壊や苦難を承知しております。そして、日本の皆様の卓越した対応ぶりや態度に大きな感動を覚えております。
私どもの想いは、皆様、皆様のご家族、そしてご友人の皆様とともにあります。今はどうすることも出来ませんが、私どもに出来ることなら何でもご支援申し上げたいと思っております。長年にわたって培ってきた日本人間工学会と多くの優れた同朋との深い友好関係が忘れられることはありません。皆様は、人間工学の世界において、様々に、そして幾度にもわたって、信頼できるパートナーであり、友好の絆でありました。どうぞ、この復興の時にあたっての日本人間工学会のご努力に対して、我々にどのような貢献が出来るかをお知らせください。
全ての日本人間工学会の皆様、そのご家族、そして日本社会全体に対して、今後の幸運をお祈りするとともに、今この時に皆様が耐え忍んでおられる試練に心を留めておりますことをお伝えいたします。この試練はいずれ過ぎ去るでしょうが、我々の友情は変わることないでしょう。

Statement to JES
On behalf of all the members of the International Ergonomics Association and the family of ergonomists around the world, we extend our heartfelt wishes to our colleagues in the Japanese Ergonomics Society during the trying times that followed the natural disaster on March 11. We are learning through news reports and second-hand accounts about the devastation and suffering that many are enduring. The responses and character of the Japanese people have been truly remarkable and we are deeply impressed.
Know that you, your family and friends are in our thoughts. Though we feel helpless to do anything at the moment, we are looking to ways to contribute in whatever way we can. The deep friendship we have developed with the Japanese Ergonomics Society and the many valued colleagues over the years will not be forgotten. You have been a reliable partner to the ergonomics community in many ways, at many times, and you enjoy the bond of our friendship. Please let us know how we can contribute to JES efforts during this recovery period.
To all JES members, to your families, to the larger communities in which you live, and the entire nation, we offer our best wishes and we are mindful of the suffering you are enduring at this moment. However, this will pass, but our friendship will always remain.
